With the recent popularity of Pokémon GO, the 3DS games, and a resurgence in the relevance of Pokémon in general, it’s time to look at the more “grown up” aspects that fans have given to the franchise. Since so many people grew up playing these games or watching the show, it is understandeable that quite a few people grew up to make creations of their own inspired by their childhood love with Pokémon.

Drinks. We mean drinks. And it’s understandable, with how famous and interesting Pokémon are, it’d be weird if people didn’t think about how to put their own spins on a Pokémon inspired drink. Keep in mind these aren’t just any normal cocktails either but have very intricate recipes.

So with that said, let’s take a gander on some Pokémon inspired drinks. Gotta Drink’em All!

Bulbasaur, Ivysaur and Venusaur

½ Shot of lime vodka
¼ Shot of lime juice
¼ Shot of melon liqueur

1 Shot of lime vodka

1 Shot of lime juice

1 Shot of melon liqueur

1 Shot of Sprite

1 Bulbasaur

1 Ivysaur

1 Shot of lime vodka

1 Shot of lime juice

1 Shot of Sprite

Based on the first of the original Pokémon starters, this drink offers a relaxing, bitter drink that comes with a slight kick to it. The combination of the different lime drinks alongside Sprite give it a slightly bitter but energizing kick, which becomes even more so when you count the vodka’s own effects. This drink may not be that strong, but it is definitely tasty, and one that you can try a few times before worrying about who’s going to drive you home.

Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard

1 Splash of grenadine
1 Oz of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
½ Oz of Bacardi 151

1 Spash of grenadine

1 Splash of scotch

1 Oz of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey

Fill with ginger ale

2 Oz of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey

2 Splashes of grenadine

2 Splash of scotch

1.5 Ounces of Bacardi 151

Fill with ginger ale

These series of drinks are inspired by the second of the original starters of the first Pokémon game, one that was very popular with a lot of people and still stands out as one of the most recognized Pokémon of all (especially in a time when there’s like…what? a thousand?).

These drinks make good use of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey, which gives them a spicier taste the more you add, combined with scotch for a slightly burning taste, but also adding in ginger ale in order to mellow everything out so that you don’t have to run around looking for something to cool off. Much like the species it’s inspired on, it will burn you if you’re not careful, but it’s also a fun and powerful drink that will give you a great experience.

Squirtle, Wartortle and Blastoise

⅓ Shot of spiced rum

⅓ Shot of coconut rum

⅓ Shot of blue curacao

½ Shot of spiced rum
½ Shot of coconut rum
½ Shot of blue curacao

Fill with Mountain Dew Voltage

1 Squirtle

1 Wartortle

1 Shot of light rum

Fill with Mountain Dew Voltage

We close off on the starters with the titular water one. And fittingly enough, these series of drinks have a genuinely tropical and island-themed series of ingredients. While rum is certainly a strong drink, and the spiced rum itself would probably make anyone do a double take, the addition of blue curacao and coconut rom give it a fresher taste that helps contrast the spiced rum. Add to that the Mountain Dew Voltage for the Wartortle and Blastoise drinks and you’ve got the perfect blend for a tropical paradise.

4 Oz of lemonade
2 Oz of lemon-lime soda
2 Oz of vodka
½ Oz of lemon juice
Maraschino cherries

Now that we’ve got the starters covered, it’s time we give Pokémon’s own mascot some love. Pikachu’s popularity has made it so that there are actually different types of drinks based around Pikachu and his evolution line, but this one stands out thanks to it signifying the things that make Pikachu great as a Pokémon.
Much like Squirtle, the different combination of lemony flavours gives it a bitter yet sweet flavour, combined with the kick given to vodka it represents Pikachu very well. A sweet but shocking Pokémon that you’ll have to keep rubber gloves around for.

Eevee and its Evolutions

Eevee: cake vodka, Kahlua, Bailey’s, chocolate eclair ice cream bar, chocolate syrup
Vaporeon: rum, Malibu, blue curacao, pineapple juice, Sprite
Jolteon: tequila, red bull, margarita mix, lemon juice, Sprite, salt on the rim
Flareon: fireball whiskey, peach schnapps, iced tea, lemonade, dash of strawberry syrup (for color)
Espeon: strawberry vodka, Hpnotiq Harmonie, Chambord, cranberry juice, Sprite
Umbreon: bourbon, coke, lemon juice, orange juice
Glaceon: rum, blue curacao, peppermint schnapps, lemonade, soda water, sugar on the rim
Leafeon: tequila, peach schnapps, lime juice, ginger ale, mint, honey and a drop of chocolate syrup for decoration
Sylveon: cake vodka, strawberry vodka, Bailey’s, strawberry shortcake ice cream bar, cream, strawberry syrup

Eevee has always been a special (and adorable!) Pokémon, whose different evolutions made it a standout for the Pokémon fandom. Much like in the games Eevee can take up many different drink forms, with the general theme being the slight (or sometimes exaggerated) sweetness that each drink offers. From the almost dessert-like Eevee drink to the stronger Umbreon drink, this series of cold drinks have a lot of variety to offer and are drinks that any Pokémon enthusiast should try out.

It should be noted that there are actually quite a few more Pokémon inspired drinks out there. There are even different takes on the same drinks that are showcased here! So make sure to get out there and experiment with these and all the other ones and show everyone who is a true Pokémon Master!
