Sarah Michelle Gellar better known as the fierce Buffy The Vampire Slayer has decided to keep, store, and toss her vampire slaying weapons in exchange for cookie cutters, sprinkles, and more baking utensils any woman who loves to bake would love to own.
Apart from her extensive portfolio in acting, Sarah Michelle Gellar has dared to enter new territories by co-founding Foodstirs, a subscription-based baking kit startup. Foodstirs is a culinary lifestyle brand that aims to bring families and friends together in the kitchen through baking goodies worth drooling over for. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Galit Laibow, both mothers have been on the hunt for activities that will distract their kids from the usual gadgets such as cell phones and televisions. Frustrated that they couldn’t find any activity suitable for their lifestyle, they chose to make one instead.
Foodstirs offers monthly subscription-based boxes that come with different mixes, cookie cutters, sprinkles, and other baking needs you’ll need. The box ingredients are all preservative-free, non-GMO, and boasts of not including artificial food colouring and flavors. The baking kits are quite affordable at $72 for a three month subscription, $132 for a six month subscription, and $252 for a twelve month subscription. Since February is a love month, Foodstirs currently has heart-shaped brownie pops, cake pops, and other cookie kits perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Entering a totally different industry from what you are used to is no easy feat. In fact Sarah Michelle Gellar faces challenges from funding to shipping their products, but she continues to stand by her new venture saying that “If you have an idea, you have to believe in yourself when no one else will and go after it.”
